Just short note. I've added a counter onto the site as well as a link for e-mail. The flashy graphic is courtesy of www.dewa.com and there's a whole pile there for anyone who wants to check it out. With that said, I think I have gotten past the legalities of using someone else's graphic.

Today was an uneventful Saturday. I did a little grocery shopping and stayed home to clean. I see that it's actually close to 6am now on Sunday so I'm going to leave you here until I have more to say. Tuesday, FYI, is Buddha's birthday and a national holiday.

I'm drunk. I want you to know that. The International Pub was wierd. It was very wierd. My problem is that I am no longer used to foreigners. Letsee... I ran into a couple of foreigners I knew which let me escape from hanging around the bar and got me a seat at a table. Tequila was only 3000 Won a shot- did I mention that? I know, that's over 3 bucks a shot but whisky was going for 7000 or about 8 bucks a shot so... that combined with the bleeding guy who lay comatose on the bathroom floor, made for a wierd night. This is why I don't hang out with foreigners.

Almost a week now since my last post. I guess this has happened to every single journal I have ever kept. I have stacks of day planners from every year for the last 15 years, I'm sure, that have nothing written in them after mid-January. Truthfully, every time I thought about something to write, I knew I would invariably begin it with "I'm still feeling the effects of my cold" and since I wanted to spare you from that... I lapsed.

The week has gone well. We've been transplanted to Yoon's new office which has created some minor problems in accessing materials and for me, I teach out in the centre of the spacious part as opposed to one of the classrooms or offices. My voice has thusly been going in and out.

Not too much activity in the evenings. I'm still downloaded folksongs on Napster to figure out the chords. Tonight is warm and it's friday, so I think I am going to try to head out for a spell to the International Pub. It's not a glamourous place but I can be guaranteed of finding people who speak English and it's not too expensive (I just paid hundreds of dollars in phone bills, etc.). My problem is that in going alone, I have to sit at the barside which means striking up conversations with the old men who sit there and really only want to talk about how great the prostitutes are in Thailand and the Phillipines. Oh well, the beer is cheap and after a few of them, I won't care as much, I guess.

Well... here's it's Sunday and I realize that since starting this blog, not much of interest has actually happened. I've cancelled my weekend plans and spent most of the time home, lying on the bed, websurfing, and nursing my cold. I broke down and took some advice to get medicine though, and I did buy groceries when I made a quick sortie to Sungwon Ju Sanga, last night. Not knowing the words for pills or sore throat, I had to cough on the pharmacist who, in turn, coughed on me and gave me some medicated tea. I used a 'gulping' sound to convey that I really wanted pills. I have been told how horrible the tea tastes.

Thanks to 48 hours of unadulterated Napster use, my hard drive is down to 23 Megs of free space.

Didn't feel like it but I did some dishes today and have some laundry in. I also have a couple movies rented, including 'The Eighteenth Angel' which in Korean is translated as 'Luciper' (There's no 'f'). All in all, I'm feeling a bit better and will feel good enough to enjoy class tomorrow in the new building (I hope).

My first picture for the blog: My house in Sapajung Dong.

Today was an eventful day. Our school is rennovating. I was caught somewhere in the middle of a bad miscommunication. I ended up taking a nice tour of the sanga buildings in my neighbourhood while looking for a class which hadn't actually changed locations. Needless to say that set the day and having forgotten my cell phone, I was out of communication range by the time anyone noticed the problem inherent in this. All I knew was that the other class locations were on the fourth floor of one of the buildings down the street. The problem is that 4 is an unlucky number here and as I learned after climbing the requisite number of staircases- many sangas don't have a fourth floor.

The rest of the classes moved more smoothly and Friday isn't overall as bad a day as it once was for schedules. After class I went out for some skewered chicken lungs and lemon soju at the nearby Tudari.

Now the weekend has begun and it's a good chance to grab some sleep for this cold I have.

Well, it's 4AM in Korea. I've been a bit under the weather which happens when you're surrounded by kids all day but now it's quiet and I'm going to try to type a little here- if it works. Had some minor problems adding a guestbook in last night which resulted in multiple postings I couldn't erase, yet an entire blog that I did manage to erase. At least until I restarted it tonight and found my original post intact?! Wierd. Anyway... 4AM

Believe it or not, the weather was mildly uncomfortable the last two days. It's warm here although that could be the fever I'm feeling. It's going to be warmer by summer they tell me. The air conditioner in our sanga building doesn't work the greatest and I'm actually breaking a sweat on the escalators (and NO I'm not THAT out of shape.) At any rate, back home was getting 8 inches of snow when I spoke to my folks over the net.

I'm currently checking on a few of the free webhosting services out there to get some space to store photos. When I do, I'll figure out the HTML to post them in the body of the blog. Oh yeah... and that brings me back to finding a free guestbook since the one I was going to use needs to store it's data on this server... man... daylight is coming soon. Land of the Morning Calm? I'm never going to get to sleep.
